Lechaion basilica Lechaion basilica

Lechaion is known as the northern harbour of ancient Corinth and as the site of one of the most important Early Christian basilicas in the Greek world with an impressive length of 179 m. Unfortunately, during my visits in 2018 and 2019, the whole area was heavily fenced, allowing only a very distant view of the remains (below left). - Below right: The shore of the Corinthian Gulf with a view to the hill of prehistoric Korakou.

Above and below: The western mole of the harbour of Lechaion. You can still walk on the ancient square stone blocks and see part of the reinforcement submerged in the sea.
